We were running errands the other day when suddenly I remembered that we do not have a Christmas tree to put up this year. Somebody destroyed it. I won’t name any names.
So I mention it to Tyler when he says this to me:
“Actually I made the decision a couple of days ago that we are getting a real tree this year.”
I honestly don’t know how he got that statement out of his mouth without laughing.
That is just not how we operate over here. Usually we DISCUSS and make JOINT decisions.
However, if he can make decisions, so can I.
I made the decision that he was going to sort and organize all of Sarah’s toys, but he decided not to.
Then I decided to overrule his decision to not clean up toys, but again, he decided not to. He decided to take a nap.
This is pretty much how our entire day went. We are easily amused.
By dinner time, Emily was home from her dad’s house. They had decided to send a gigantic box of fruit roll-ups home with her because they had nowhere to store it.
Super. That is just what I want. 85 fruit roll-ups.
I decided that Tyler should find a place for them.
Tyler threw the box at me and decided that I should be the one to find the roll-ups a home.
So I threw the box at him… and missed.
Later that night I went to bed and this is what I found:
I guess Tyler decided where to put the fruit roll-ups.
Oh lucky me.
But we still haven’t decided about what to do about our lack of Christmas Tree.
What’s YOUR decision making policy in your family?
