Today is our 4th Anniversary.
Oh… Did you think this was going to be a lovey-dovey kind of a post? Well, think again. I had planned to tell you about our wedding day, but someone got in the way of that and his name is Tyler.
You see, the other night Tyler and I were talking about our anniversary gifts to each other. Specifically I told him that I thought I knew what he was getting me.
Every year we give the traditional anniversary gifts.
1st year was Paper
2nd year was Cotton
3rd year was Leather
4th Year is… FRUIT!!!
So seeing that Tyler just bought himself the new iPhone 4 and Apple makes the iPhone and an Apple is a fruit, you can understand why I think that I will be getting a new iPhone this morning.
He laughed at me when I told him my theory and we were both complaining about the whole “fruit” thing and how difficult it is to think of something creative when all of a sudden this is what he says to me…
(…or something to this effect because if I do not quote him 100% correctly he will spend the rest of the day disputing it. Yes, this is the man I love.)
“How can you even top the Love Jar? I mean I gave you a Love Jar last year! What kind of guy like me gives a Love Jar?”
So…. Ummm… now our anniversary gifts are a competition? It is a freakin’ competition to see who can give the best gift?
And I say that to him in so many words.
Plus I added that I made him a Crossword Puzzle about our courtship and wedding for our 1st Anniversary (paper) and I don’t think it was fully appreciated.
So he says this to me:
“You are a woman. You are expected to give things like that and be thoughtful.”
So that’s it folks. If I am “expected” to do thoughtful crap for our anniversary, I am going to do the opposite of thoughtful.
Do you want to know what he is getting this year? Here is a picture:
Oh there is no picture, eh? That is because he is getting the hoop. Nada. Not one single thing. How’s that for “expected?”
Tyler you WIN! I will never be able to top the infamous Love Jar. Happy Anniversary.
I totally caved, out of guilt, and I did get him something.
- A caramel apple.
- A Strawberry shortcake mini doll.
- A Homemade Blueberry Pie.
- Post-its in the shape of an apple.
- And I went to the Teacher Supply Store and got a HUGE picture of an apple and wrote loving words on it.
No, it will never top the Love Jar, but it is fun to try. I think this post shows exactly what makes our relationship so special. We have the most fun out of the silliest things. We are the bestest of friends.
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TYLER!!! I LOVE YOU!
