What does the following say about me as a mother?
When my mom asked my girls one final time if there was anything else they wanted for Christmas, each girl asked for…
Emily would like some mozzarella sticks.
Sarah wants Mini Chips Ahoy Cookies.
It’s not like we sit around over here and snack on alfalfa sprouts. I mean we do eat pretty healthy, but really? Food?
And GRANDMA is the one asking them. This is the one time they can shoot for the moon and my mom would call NASA and try to get a piece of it for them, but all they asked for was food.
I can understand Sarah’s request. She is 3. Those little cookies call to her each and every time we visit the grocery store and every single time I shoot the kid down.
“We make homemade cookies, honey,” is my usual response. One day she will realize the love that goes into all of these homemade items.
As for Emily?
Emily did ask Santa one year for Fruit Thingys and she got them in her stocking.
That is how Santa rolls.
Fruit Thingys are any type of fruit flavored snack in the shape of an animal, tv character, etc. They just look gross, but when Emily was little, those were the things that spoke to her at the grocery store.
Maybe I will tell Santa to cook the mozzarella sticks and toss them into her stocking. Let’s just see who has the last laugh on that one.
Have your kids ever asked for anything wacky for a gift?
